Turning off calendar notifications

When you create a calendar item, you receive a confirmation of it. However, you also receive a reminder by email when the appointment is upcoming. Handy for a single appointment, but with many appointments it can quickly become too much.

At the moment, you cannot directly turn off calendar reminders in the Calendar. But there is an easy workaround!
With a simple email filter, you can remove those reminders. This way you can continue working calmly without constant emails.

Turning off calendar notifications via email filter

Navigate to Email filters in your email settings

  1. Log in to the webmail
  2. Once logged in, click on the icon "Settings"
  3. Click on the option "Mail filters" in the left column

Add an email filter

  1. You can now create a filter in the middle pane. Click on the button "Create filter" all the way to the right

  2. Enter a name for the filter, in this example "Turn off calendar reminders" is used but anything is allowed.
  3. Click on "Add condition" and select "sent by".
  4. Enter the same email address under "VALUE" as the one from which the reminder arrives.
  5. Click again on "Add condition" and select "subject".
  6. Click on "is equal to" and change it to "contains".
  7. Enter "Reminder: event" under "VALUE" (do not add or omit anything, copy exactly).
  8. Now click under Actions on "Add action" and select "discard (delete)".
  9. Check if your settings look as in the screenshot below and click on "Save" at the top right.

Your email filter is created and calendar reminders will be automatically deleted before they reach your inbox.
